Yasi Aftermath

Dear friends
I sat out this ferocious cyclone for 7 hours from 11 pm till 4 in the morning buffeted and lashed by Yasi the whole period. Dee elected to sleep out instead while I kept a vigil on the situation during the night.
We (plus our sheltie, Jasper, our dog ) have just emerged from our bunker (the smallest and strongest bathroom) this morning, Thursday. Dee had her Campbell tin broth for brekkie and I reached out for my 2 minute noodle. Fortunately, we use gas for cooking, just as well, because I lost power the previous evening.
Toi rang me yesterday and this morning.... which was nice...thanks.
Let me tell you this. You would not wish this experience on anyone. IT WAS HAIR-RAISING , nail biting AND VERY DICEY. I felt so small during the ordeal and literally prayed for the divine intervention.
Our abode did not sustain any damage. The roof is still intact.
I am at the shop right now. It is a OK as expected. And , we will resume trading tomorrow and get back to normality ASAP. Electricity for commercial district is in order.
Thanks for all your thoughts , concern and prayers. I received all of the above one hundred percent. And I am grateful.
Cheers,
Dee and Jee

Jeerasak,

I am glad you are OK. We have been following the cyclone closely. It seems that Innisfail, Cardwell, and Tully have
been devastated. Townsville seems OK. The three places are south of Cairns so we guessed that Atherton should be OK as the cyclone was downgraded to Category 4 when it hit the coast. You have just confirmed it.
We are relieved and happy to hear that you and Meridee are OK.

On our end, we have a major snow storm last week. This week there is another huge one, however, my area gets lucky this time as the storm has gone up north to New York and New England.

Dear Dee and Jee

I am glad you went through Yasi without serious dents. I am still in Phitsanulok but I spent hours listening to ABC Qld online radio. A guy from Atherton rang to ask if the cyclone was coming his way when it actually was over him, I reaalized that Yasi was not going to be very bad in Atherton as the eye was not coming this way but moving SW. When we were in Darwin, we had a few anxious and scary times but I don't think as bad as what you went through.

Cheers
The Force is still with you.
